(Not sure what goes in here... or what the title will be... or whether it's worth a 'chapter.' Perhaps we ask other people, like teachers, and outfitters and older folks and younger folks? And people like Rick Gerrard and Tim Tower and the Mountain Goat, who have gone on a lot of trips with us? And man/woman on the street? Sometimes what I think it is/thought it was  doesn't sync up with others' thoughts)
